He's ONE!

My sweet Bear is officially one. I refuse to call him a toddler (especially since he's not toddling in any regard) but you can definitely see the difference in him; his body is leaner and longer, his limbs move freely but also coordinate to do things like lift of toys with his feet or stick all of his toes in his mouth at once. He may not walk, but this kid sure does move and get around! Nothing is safe from an exploring Barrett.

We had an awesome birthday party a few days after his birthday; Barrett (and us!) were surrounded by friends, family, and lots of love. It was a beautiful day in so many regards.  But on his actual birthday, we busted out a double chocolate cupcake for my boy and the white shirt he'll wear in yearly pictures until he's 18 (or until he refuses, whichever comes first).

Happy first birthday to the boy who has brought so much light into our lives. Your smiles is an incredible testament to all that is good in the world and all that shines happiness on others. We are so lucky to have you in our lives.

Some things about you, at one: you adore beans and pasta. You have 2-3 regular words, depending on the day (uh oh, dada, dah for dog). No matter what is going on in the world around you, you'd always rather watch your brother. Chocolate is a big hit (thanks dad!). The speed at which you can scoot around the room is incredible. You can stand and probably crawl, but much prefer to scoot. Rarely do you cry. No new teeth have emerged in awhile, so you're still at 8.  Agua has been a big hit with you lately, both for swimming and drinking. And overall, at one, you're just super awesome, kiddo.
